Lapham’s Garden Center has been proudly family owned and operated since 1945, when the very first roadside tent went up in Midland, Michigan. It started with simple offerings—flowers and vegetables grown with care and sold to local neighbors—and quickly became a trusted name in the community. What began as a small family project during the post–World War II years has blossomed into a full-service garden center rooted in tradition, quality, and personal connection.

Today, Lapham’s continues to be run by the same family, with the same dedication to growing and sharing beautiful, healthy plants. From vibrant flowers and lush perennials to fresh vegetables, fruit trees, and hardy shrubs, we carry everything you need to create and nurture a thriving garden.

Mission

At Lapham’s Garden Center, our mission is to do things the right way—from the ground up. That means recycling whenever possible, caring deeply for every plant we grow, and starting with the best soil—literally. We mix our own dirt from scratch using our custom-built dirt hopper, ensuring the perfect blend for healthy, thriving plants. It’s the same high-quality mix we use in everything we grow—and yes, you can even take a bag home for your own garden!
